Welcome to the Association of Railway Museums (ARM). ARM was founded in 1961 to encourage railway museums in the exchange ideas and information, and to be of assistance to one another. The purpose of ARM is to lead in the advancement of railway heritage through education and advocacy, guided by the principles set forth in "Recommended Practices for Railway Museums," and incorporating other practices generally accepted in the wider museum community. The Association of Railway Museums web site has many resources to help railway museums, but also has things to interest railway preservationists and historians. Find a Museum is a searchable database of all Association of Railway Museums member institutions. The most important document for any railway museum is Recommended Practices for Railway Museums. This publication is offered free on this site in Adobe Reader or text formats and sets out important professional standards for railway museums. Railway Museum Quarterly is the Association's official publication. All memberships include a subscription and this site includes recent feature articles. And many great online resources are available to help railway museums. These are listed in Heritage Resources. Membership in the Association of Railway Museums offers many benefits. If you are not already a member, consider some of the benefits offered in one of our four membership categories. Don't Miss the ARM Annual Conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado! September 10 - 14, 2008
